Many mature trees require pruning to maintain plant health and safety. This pruning type is referred to as crown cleaning. Crown cleaning includes the removal of dead and broken branches, watersprouts, crossers, and addition thinning when necessary.

Research has shown that thinning, the removal of live branches to reduce density, significantly reduces wind resistance and subsequent storm damage. Thinning should only be done on trees where the crown is "too dense". Silver State Tree Company employees certified arborist with the training and experience to evaluate this need.
